Maranhenses (MA) – Route of Emotions Part II

Factsheet 4×1

Date: 29/06/2012 the 03/07/2012

Saímos of: Jericoacoara (EC)

Stop em: Parnaíba (PI)

Destination: Barreirinhas (MA)

Where to sleep: Hotel of the Winds, in Parnaíba (PI), Inn and the Buriti, Barreirinhas (MA).

What eat different: Fish the delight, Barreirinhas.

Tire cheio: The walk to the beach Caburé, whose highlight was the way to the beach, through numerous attractions.

Tire murcho: Unfortunately, the dunes were not the famous lakes that we know the photos. Despite having spent more time in the park recommended, this year the rains did not occur as planned and the lakes were not formed.

After the high emotions of Jeri, continue our journey to the Delta of, even in daylight, and we were trying to negotiate our tour of one of the few offshore deltas of the world, the sole of the Americas. Little known compared to its neighbors (Jericoacoara in Ceará side and sheets in Maranhão), is the Delta of the central point of the route of emotions. Its beauty is due to your landscape that merges islands, dunas e mangoes. The origin of the name Delta is in the form of its mouth, forming a triangle, in the same format of the delta letter of the Greek alphabet.

After a long run, find the agency Morais Brito Travel, do Sr. Edilson, that in addition to making us a friendly price, got us a place to spend the night and have a coffee in the morning. In the meantime, had the opportunity to meet a couple of adventurers, Julius and Hanna, We are doing an expedition to South America (http://julioehanna.com/). As always we find other adventurers, exchanged some tips and information on our extensive continent. The place we stayed was the Hotel of the Winds, a nice place and offers a tasty breakfast.

After a pleasant evening in our tent in the hotel parking and tasty breakfast, Mr Edilson we found our guide and already on the pier, which awaited us with a boat.

During the tour, went through numerous creeks, visited some mangroves full of crabs, went to the beach, in which we could see an arm of the delta.

Although we have made two stops: The first stop was at a restaurant, not for lunch, but to enjoy the view from the lookout which had, while the second stop was at the dunes, already near the pier. Our passage through the Delta was quick, under 24 hrs, consider positive but have visited this unknown, but relevant point of Brazilian geography.

We leave the Delta of the day after lunch 30 June and headed toward the famous Maranhenses, more specifically to the city of Barreirinhas, which is located most of the support structure tourist who visits the sheets. During the trip, tudo normal, no unexpected. We knew from the city of Paulino Neves would have to look informações on how to make the journey and assim happened Barreirinhas: coming to town Paulino Neves has been approached by several local guides who were willing to be guided by 38 kilometers of dirt road / sand until our final stop. This would be necessary because there are no signs that path and the tracks are divided into several directions, which can easily confuse a person who knows the region.

Talking with the guide in Paulino Neves found the values for the guide service too salty (were charging 100 Actual average). For our "luck", negociávamos appeared as a man who was leaving for Barreirinhas guiding two more cars and offered to help us. It was getting late and every minute we spent there over night approached. We decided to accept, lowered the tire pressure to tackle the sand and started to follow him. At first we have seen that our new guide liked to speed and warn that, As our car is heavy, could not follow so fast. He understood (nay, said he understood) and we traveled. The night was already showing its signs while we adentrávamos more and more kills in the region.

Along with our guide to this increasingly distanced from us, until he stopped the car, turned around and told us we were going the other way because that was too bad for Tanajura. We agree and, when we begin to turn the car to follow him, the boy just disappeared. Simple as that, accelerated and left. Although we try, unsuccessfully, follow the path where he was, but soon we came across several bifurcations and tínnhamos not know what to pick, all had tire tracks. Well, were alone, tinha finish the night to come, had not reached even half of the trip and everything was tínnhamos some locals around the track and an indication of our GPS that was to our west Barreirinhas. We had no option, was to follow with this or nothing! We asked some guidance in the first house and we think we westward by bifurcations we found. At times the trail appeared to be quite tricky with Tanajura, areiões with heavy and narrow passages through the woods, but our companion overcame all obstacles! We arrived in Barreirinhas after two hours of road, relieved and happy with the challenge overcome.

The city asked some indications hotel and stopped at Pousada do Buriti. There we were met by the owner of the inn who kindly offered us lodging for the days we stayed in Barreirinhas.

After we parked at the inn Tanajura, we went for a walk through a small town on the edge existing tourism, where there are several restaurants, among them the Windward, where we ate the fish Delight; have the name you can imagine what we!

We took the next morning to resolve some outstanding issues and, after lunch, we went to the dunes in a package that was offered by the company Ecotourism Sao Paulo.

We have come a journey of about 45 minutes in a Toyota Bandeirante, with seats installed in the bucket, crossing small rivers and lots of sand, until we arrived at the Dune Park. In it there are more than 2 thousand lagoas, all formed by rain water, this rain that recently did not show up there and so the lagoons were almost all dry. Only one was water, it was the Fish Pond, where we stayed for almost two hours late and enjoying the look of linen. Even without the lagoons, the immensity of the park is impressive in itself, with a landscape of dunes that stretches as far as our eyes can reach.

In the evening we were awarded a beautiful sunset, sun and moon rises full, that view of the dunes was even more incredible that the sun itself.

No give 2 July mark, also by the agency Ecotourism Sao Paulo, a boat ride to the beach Caburé. It takes up approximately 1 time to get to the beach, on a path that runs along the river boat amid Preguiças mangroves in the region, path that was precisely done by our driver and guide Johnny, Bonissima people who told us much about the history, fauna and flora. Before the arrival of the beach we stopped at Brooms Caburé, where there is a colony of capuchin monkeys that was stranded by the advancing dunes and now lives in harmony with the inhabitants of the region. We also stopped in Mandacaru, We visit a lighthouse that helps in navigating the region. Coming from the beach Caburé, a sudden change in visual impressed by its beauty. As we go through all the way followed by mangroves, coming to the beach dunes dominate the skyline and the sudden transformation of the environment makes us question how such different systems can be located almost in the same location. Incredible.

In Caburé commend our lunch and were waiting on the beach. We had lunch and I took the boat back to port Barreirinhas. Although the tour is called "Owls", sure the route is the most impressive program, much more than the beach itself Caburé. O long river Preguiças, explanations of our guide Johnny, contact with the colony of capuchin monkeys, the visual top of the lighthouse and dunes with the coexistence of mangroves were the highlights of the day.

For the morning of our last day in Maranhenses, 03 July, close a float trip down the river cross-Cardosa. We took a ride in a Toyota Bandeirante more adapted, para percorrer, for about one hour and twenty minutes, a rutted dirt road to reach the river and start our tour.

It was an hour down the river buoys circular. Us there was so much older people and children: as the river is calm, all stakeholders can make this program.

It only takes care not to injure the vegetation of the river, because at times the flow of the river can take you outside if you're not careful. To coordinate the tour, accompany the group tourists will always one or two local guides. At the end of the stretch downriver Bandeirante was already waiting for us to then go back to the city, through the same path-way.

We lunched in the restaurant Sabor simple and fair Brasa, Mr. Jordano ((98) 3349-0739), which serves well-served, quality and around 10 real, a good choice for those who are looking for more affordable meals in Barreirinhas. Fueled after lunch, Then we left for the state capital of Maranhao, St. Louis!
