Factsheet 4×1

Date: 10/06/2012 à 18/06/2012

Saímos of: Bom Jesus da Lapa, BA

Destination: Lençóis-BA, Chapada Diamantina

Distance: 395 km

Travel time: 7 hours (including stops for lunch, oil change, bathroom and photos)

Path: We left Bom Jesus da Lapa BA-BA-160 towards the city of Ibotirama-BA. This path has several stretches of road in poor stage. POPCORN party list Ibotirama-BA, BR-242 stick to sense Salvador-BA, que leva até a estrada que dá acesso à cidade de Lençóis-BA.

Where to sleep: Sheets-alkyne Inn in BA and in his native Valley Pati

What eat different: Breakfast the morning of Alcino Inn, an event apart (More Info below).

Tire cheio: Vale do Pati. The Vale é tão impressionante que o próximo relato é só sobre ele.

Tire murcho: Commercial exploitation of natural beauty. Muitas das atrações do Parque Nacional da Chapada Diamantina estão localizadas em propriedades particulares e são cobradas taxas de entrada.

Chapada Diamantina (BA) - Gives Father Ignatius Welcome

A few hours after we left the road Bom Jesus da Lapa and finally spotted. Loin, the towering rock formations grew in the landscape like a giant awoke as we approached. The Chapada Diamantina bright eyes and charms at first sight even more closely. With 110 km long (north-sul) and handheld devices with atrativos, or National Park, that hosts this natural beauty, é um dos maiores e mais diversificados do Brasil.

Recommendations from friends took us to the nice sheets, BA, Plated in central city, where there is great infrastructure to receive tourists. Sheets offers wide range of campsites, B & Bs, restaurants and travel agencies, also has a privileged location in relation to the attractions of the Park. Era um lugar bem gostoso para relaxar entre uma trilha e outra.

How to practice, come in search of a place to spend the night with Tanajura. Ativan negotiating mode and run the city. That's when we know Caio, son of Alcinous Inn, a traditional inn in the input sheets. He received us very well and agreed that dormíssemos in their parking lot and also we used the infrastructure of the hostel. Perfect! The Inn was extremely warm, repleta de ornamentos de cerâmica feitos pelos próprios donos.

It had everything we needed: clean bathrooms, Internet and washing machine roupa. Not to mention the breakfast in the morning! Ah, Coffee Morning! No doubt, an event apart. We could spend hours there (and we), on the wide variety of options, servidas atenciosamente a todo momento na mesa.

Amid the plethora of attractions in Chapada, decided to seek expert help to optimize our time in the region. For indication of Caio, went straight to the Out of Track, agency located in Rua da Pedras and offers all kind of sightseeing tour in Chapada. A wise decision! There we met and Aline Luhan, who were extremely friendly and helpful with us, even with the many questions that we stopped not to do. They gave us several tour options, that have been adjusted according to that found most interesting to. In the end, left there with a schedule of one week in the Chapada Diamantina, ainda que a vontade fosse de ficar pelo menos o mês inteiro.

First day of sightseeing, decided to make the script of the caves. After breakfast in the morning, find our guide, Harebol, the inn. The guy was a figure! Of those people who are lucky to know in life, with many stories to tell. We'll talk more about him forward. We went into the Mucugezinho, where is the Devil's Pool. The name comes from the days when slaves were sick or disabled thrown there. The waterfalls form the head, língua and a throat to do diabo. Nonetheless, o Poço é um bom lugar para um banho de cachoeira.

The next destination of the script was Torrinhas, the paradise of cavers. A cave stalactites and stalagmites inúmeras shelters, addition of crystals. We made the simplest script that costs $ 15 and provides about an hour's walk through the cave with flashlights in hand to address the main cave formations. Very interesting for us, since it had never entered so in a cave!

We continued toward Pratinha, where we contemplate the beauty of the Blue Grotto (where in incrível) and relax in a bath pond. Lá também se paga R$15 para acesso às atrações.

Moreover, everything is paid in the Chapada. To close the day with a flourish, setting of the sun under the view of Father Ignatius! Indescribable! No doubt, the highlight of the tour! Photo mentally filed for the rest of life!

The first day significantly increased the expectation for the coming days in the Chapada. Mainly because the next day, would make the track Pati Valley, considered the third best in the world, just behind the Camino de Santiago and the Inca Trail to Machu Pichu. There are approximately 60 km walk 4 Vale days. Experience in Pati is so rich that it deserves a separate post, por isso não entraremos em grandes detalhes agora.

Turning give Pati, physically exhausted, took two days relax in the Chapada. In one, enjoyed more Sheets. Relax at the inn, walk through town and stopped for pizza at the end of the day in the Pizza People. We heard it was the best pizza in the region, but the Italian was prepared them somewhat crazy. And find out why! A principle, the pizza was really delicious, the service very friendly, everything was in line. Was! We do not know how or why, but the Italian began yelling at the woman in a way that we are constrained by time. We were then kindly informed that he would not do our third pizza, because it was "good" and it was too late! Demos risada.

What happened was exactly as described in, seemed part of the show. Foi um dia divertido.

The next day, ran a few miles to visit the Blue Well. An expanded version of the Blue Grotto, in which the bath was allowed. The sun's rays entering through the cracks of the cave lit up the water that shone in a blue very much alive. It's hard to describe the beauty of the place. There was also the Enchanted Well, which is still greater, mas preferimos deixar para uma próxima oportunidade.

The Chapada Diamantina was the place where we spend more time, was our home for a few days. It became difficult to say good-bye, but the expedition has to follow. New day, new home! And although even!

Factsheet 4×1

Date: 09/06/2012 à 10/06/2012

Saímos of: Alto Paraíso-GO

Destination: Bom Jesus da Lapa, BA

Distance: 593 km

Travel time: 9 hours (including stops for bathroom, lunch and photos)

Path: Following the recommendation of an experienced truck driver in the region, High left-GO Paradise by the road towards New Rome-GO (90 km of dirt road with an average speed of 35 km / h e 20 km de asfalto). Before joining New Rome-GO, took a "shortcut" towards the city of Iaciara-GO and from there went to Posse GO, Goian last city before you arrive BR-020. This gives access to the BR-349, It is now in Bahia within, that cam à Direto Bom Jesus da Lapa, BA. Os últimos trechos impressionam pela qualidade da estrada.

Where to sleep: Parking of the Fathers, where we could camp with Tanajura

Tire cheio: Grandeur and beauty in the Sanctuary of Bom Jesus da Lapa! it was about to say that, the feeling is indescribable look closely at the Shrine. Um tesouro brasileiro no meio do sertão baiano.

Tire murcho: Eyes open! Despite not having anything happened to us, we were repeatedly advised to keep our cameras and other valuables, já que pequenos furtos ainda são bastante comuns na cidade.

Bom Jesus da Lapa (BA) – Wonder of Wilderness

Bom Jesus da Lapa came by chance in our roadmap, When looking for a rest stop between the Chapada Diamantina and Veadeiros. But, at first sight of the shrine town of Bahia harbors, just wonder how this was not a proper target of our trip. No wonder they say is one of 7 maravilhas do Brasil.

We arrived at dusk in the city and far as we could appreciate its beauty, with a wonderful view of the River Sanctuary San Francisco giving us welcome. We could not wait and went straight to the site. Built in the midst of a magnificent caves of massive limestone 90 meters, o Santuário é de tirar o fôlego.

The site was discovered in 1691 by the Portuguese Francisco Mendonça Sea, that after donating their goods and walk inland hinterland in penance with the image of Bom Jesus, found an ideal place to set up his cross and devote the rest of their lives to prayer and helping the needy. Since then, the city has developed along with the Sanctuary, que hoje recebe milhões de pessoas na romaria que é uma das maiores do país.

We ran the city in search of a place to rest. Because camping was not an option there, look for hotels and hostels. There were several, but we had trouble finding a location that Tanajura to behave safely. After various indications, we come to what the Fathers called Parking, next to the city's bus, where the buses that brought the pilgrims usually stay parked. It was the perfect place to stay Tanajura. And if she would stay right there, we also would! We talked to the staff who worked in the parking lot and allowed us to camp there as well. We spent the night for an incredible $ 10 per day, nothing else. Benefits of having the tent with us automotive. All though the dance that inspired the bash in the city was not the best of things for our sleep, but until the night was not bad. Until we take a bath there. Better than it was dinner for less than $ 5 dollars per person (sandwich + beer), o que nos fez lembrar como nos assaltam nas cidades grandes como São Paulo.

Next day, early in the morning, back to the Shrine, where we would try to talk with Father Casimir, that lives long in the city and according to the staff parking, could share a valuable life experience with us. Unfortunately he was watching the celebration of masses, afinal was domingo. Then, decided to learn more about the Sanctuary before leaving the Chapada Diamantina, where he wanted to reach before dark. We climbed the tower of the Sanctuary to admire the view of the city and then, a local guide accompanied us for a visit to the caves. Pilgrims walk the caves in search of the "water of miracles", who believe they have divine powers. Or not believed, o local é realmente cercado de uma mística que encanta mesmo aos que não seguem a religião católica.

Will travel. Bom Jesus da Lapa was a pleasant discovery, those that are difficult in more traditional routes. Agora estamos percebendo como viajar com liberdade de escolha nos proporciona este tipo de surpresa.
